I told myself that one day, when I finally had a real camera, I’d come back and do it justice, a great American ruin preserved in a frame. Years slipped by, and that moment never came. Then one day, I found myself standing beside it again. This time, I had an iPhone in my pocket. I raised it, snapped the picture, and later pushed the colors through Rookie Cam, a free app I’d just stumbled onto. I never learned Photoshop, never needed to. The edits are raw, imperfect, and honest, just like the building itself. For me, this image isn’t just about decay; it’s about finally keeping a promise to myself, even if it arrived in a way I never expected.
